Hey, I’m Jonathan Zaldivar
Welcome to Network ThinkTank – a blog built by a network professional, for network professionals and aspiring IT enthusiasts. I created this site to share real-world knowledge, hands-on tutorials, and practical tools that I’ve developed over the course of my career.
p>My Background
I bring 20+ years of experience in IT and networking to everything I write. I’m currently a Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician at Lumen Technologies, a role I’ve held since February 2017. Day in and day out, I monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain large-scale network infrastructure – and that hands-on experience directly fuels the content you’ll find here.
p>Certifications
I’ve earned both the CCNA and CCNA Cyber Ops certifications from Cisco. While both expired in July 2023, the knowledge and discipline I gained from pursuing them continue to shape my approach to networking, security, and automation.
p>What You’ll Find on This Blog
Network ThinkTank features technical articles on network automation, monitoring, and home lab builds. I write about the tools and techniques I actually use, so every post comes from real experience – not just theory. Here are some of my published articles:
p>- Automating Network Device Backups with Python and Netmiko li>
- Monitoring IP SLAs with Python, DNA Center, and NetBox li>
- Build a Home Lab Like a Pro li>
- How I Built an AI Network Monitoring Tool (Beginner Friendly) li>
Open-Source Projects
I’m also the creator of the NetworkThinkTank-Labs organization on GitHub, where I maintain 6 public repositories focused on network automation and monitoring tools:

Why I Do This
Networking has been my passion for over two decades. I started this blog because I believe that sharing knowledge makes our entire community stronger. Whether you’re a seasoned network engineer or just starting your IT journey, I hope you’ll find something here that helps you grow, learn, and build with confidence.
Thanks for stopping by – and welcome to the Network ThinkTank community.
